Second time staying at the hotel. Very convenient for the slopes and the town, very comfortable and very welcoming.|The ski in ski out location is perfect with good storage facilities on the lower level. |The bar area is relaxed with great views from the terrace - perfect for a quiet drink at the end of the day on the slopes - or head local for some noisier apres ski!

We stayed as a friend group of 12 in the 12/14-person apartment (115m²). The apartment is cozy but quite compact, with smaller rooms than expected and limited ventilation in the bathrooms. Bedding and towels were basic in quality, though everything was clean on arrival. The kitchen is reasonably well equipped and worked well for group meals. A highlight is the patio with a great view, and the sauna functions properly, which is a nice bonus after skiing. The ski-in/ski-out access is convenient and works well. However, the ski storage area is quite small and not very practical -especially lacking benches for putting on ski boots.Overall, it’s a solid option for groups prioritizing value for money over space and luxury.

We’ve been coming to Val Thorens for several years now, but this was our first time staying at Hotel Val Chaviere. Overall we had a really enjoyable experience.||The hotel itself has a nice, intimate feel, which we really appreciated compared to some of the larger, busier ski hotels. There was a good mix of international guests, which gave it a relaxed and friendly atmosphere.||Our room was a good size, very quiet, and had a spectacular view of the mountains. Waking up to that every morning was a highlight. Small touches like having a kettle with tea-making facilities was a bonus. The bathroom also had a bath, which was perfect for soaking tired legs.||The ski setup is excellent. Excellent ski-in/ski-out access makes a huge difference, and the ski boot room was modern and practical.||Food was a pleasant surprise. We’d read mixed reviews beforehand and went in with fairly low expectations, but both breakfast and dinner exceeded them. There was plenty of choice at breakfast, most of the evening set menus were very tasty, and the desserts in particular were consistently delicious. We also really enjoyed the fondu night and opted for the beef and hot oil as opposed to the bread and cheese option.||The staff were friendly and helpful throughout our stay.||A few downsides to mention:||The bar lacked any kind of happy hour or incentive to drink in. Prices were similar to bars in town, so we often chose to go elsewhere for drinks.||There is only one lift, and it’s very small, it fits about 3 people (or 2 with luggage), which can be a bit inconvenient at busy times.||Also, compared to other hotels at a similar price point, the lack of spa facilities is noticeable.||Overall though, this is a great option if you value location, views, and good food over luxury extras. ||As regular visitors to Val Thorens, we’d definitely consider staying here again.

Very nice apartment with excellent ski-in/ski-out access. The ski locker area is somewhat cramped, making it a bit difficult to put on ski boots, and there’s no bench or seating available. Aside from this minor inconvenience, everything else is great. The location is also very convenient, with ski rentals and supermarkets nearby.

Unfortunately there were repeated electrical problems in the apartment. This means one of the bathrooms had no light, and most of the sockets in the wall did not work. This took a few days to resolve, which was inconvenient. Reception staff was very responsive and eventually got an electrician to sort it, but at the end we pay quite a lot of money for the apartment, and then you don't expect that you have to take a shower in the dark....

A lovely, family-run hotel right on the slopes. The evening meal is typical French-country-restaurant-set-menu fare; tasty, hearty and definitely not vegetarian. I note comments elsewhere about the soup being ‘bland’; I found it a bit under-seasoned but adding some salt remedied that easily. We really enjoyed all the food but were happy with the options; not sure what, if any alternatives were available. |There is a brand new ski-boot and separate ski room with boot driers and whilst the rooms are not huge, they are more than big enough. The balconies have also been zhuzhed up with glass panels replacing the old wooden balustrades. |We will definitely be back.

The hotel is functional and clean, and benefits from an excellent location just a short ski away from all the main lifts. The staff are pleasant and friendly, and overall the hotel offers a very welcoming atmosphere.||As mentioned in previous reviews, the rooms are very small, though not so small that you can’t move around comfortably. The balcony we had was a welcome addition. We stayed over the New Year period and on New Year’s Eve were able to watch the fireworks from the hotel’s veranda, which offers fantastic views of the slopes. The veranda is fully equipped with a fire pit, making it especially cosy on a freezing cold night.||The hotel provides guests with a ski storage room and a separate boot room, which is ideal and very convenient after a long day on the slopes. The bar area is very spacious and has plenty of seating for guests wanting to relax or enjoy a game of pool. The restaurant itself is fairly small and can get quite crowded at breakfast, but all guests are allocated a table for the duration of their stay, which is a nice touch.||This brings me on to the food. I noticed many previous negative reviews mentioning the food offering, and to be fair, this criticism is probably justified. It is the one aspect that lets the hotel down and leaves a lot to be desired. The hotel appears to be aiming for a rigid, fine-dining-style set menu, but it quickly becomes apparent that this is being done on a very limited budget. Unless you’re a fan of puréed root vegetables, you may find the meals somewhat disappointing. Even the fondue night was fairly basic and would have been better suited as a starter rather than a main course.||The New Year’s Eve meal was particularly disappointing, and when cheese and lettuce were served as dessert, that was enough to convince me to eat out for the remainder of our stay. If the hotel were to convert part of the bar area into a buffet station and offer guests a choice of food options, I believe it would have the potential to be excellent.||Overall, I’d say the hotel offers good value and a pleasant enough experience, but it could be significantly improved by addressing the food situation.

Spent 7 days with 5 friends at this app, all in order. We miss the 2nd toilet, some items/tools in the kitchen (like cheese grater, immersion blender, Moka, etc) and also some dress hanger. The rooms are a bit small, difficult to even go around the bed, but this is common in France. Friendly staff at the reception + super janitor solve all our request.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the La Residence Le Val Chaviere. The apartment is well designed with enough space for the 14 of us using the apartment. The location is superb with easy access to the Preclet area of VT and onto the slopes. The sauna in the apartment was a great addition after a long days skiing.

Great location, ski-in and ski-out access to slopes. Heated boot rack in ski locker. Refurbished appartment was spacious and had a sauna, was well equipped but had to ask for additional cooking pans. Comfortable beds. Initially noisy after 10pm but this was addressed when raised with the very helpful reception staff. Would definitely consider a return trip.

Great location, comfortable beds, fantastic skiing. 😀 - Very good location adjacent to the Castor and Pollux carpet lifts. Ski in and ski out, heated boot racks in the ski locker. The appartment was excellent, the beds were very comfortable. I understand the appartment has been refurbished in the last few years. Clean modern bath/shower rooms with plenty of hot water. A modern kitchen with everything you'll need. We used the sauna that was in our appartment, this is a nice feature. We skied all day and didn't have time to use the spa or the pool facilities in Les Balcons, maybe next time! We had an 18mth toddler with us who loved using the newly installed soft play area in the leisure centre (free entry). Shops and bars are close by. Amandine, the receptionist was extremely helpful and obtained some mugs and additional cooking pans we needed. She also helped when our rowdy neighbours who were still making noise at 4am. They were very quiet after that! 😞 - The external steps down to the level 0 and the ski locker weren't cleared of snow/ice so were a little precarious first thing in the morning.

We love the apartment, especially the perfect location in Val Thorens. And to be clear, we would rent it again next season! But now we have rented the second time, some small improvements need to be made. First of all some safety things. In the child bedrooms upstairs the lamps are broken, and the kids could touch live wires. This was also the case last year, this should have been fixed!Second thing is that the wooden stair is super slippery, we have had several people fall on these stairs. Some anti-slip material would be recommended.Last safety issue is the wooden balcony, the quality of the wood is very poor, we have had several kids with splinters.Furthermore some small annoyances. The ski locker has room for 10 shoes pairs, but you rent the apartment as a group of 12, so we had to little driers. The pillows on the beds upstairs are not in good shape, the are full of flakes. And the last point of comment is that the cooking pans are all a bit bend.

Nice hotel with a very relaxed atmosphere in a great location with good food and very helpful staff. We had a problem at home yesterday morning so we’re stuck in the room. Went out to get a baguette for lunch and while I was searching for butter in the hotel restaurant the staff saw me. Instead of challenging why I was there the very nice staff gave me a bread knife, board and of course plenty of butter!|Also, while we were in our room dealing by phone with the problem at home housekeeping returned three times to do our room, waiting until we had left.|All in all a very good experience 👏🏼

Small compact rooms but manageable with effort. It is end of season but I thought they deserved a positive review as we enjoyed our stay. |I guess we are pretty easy going with our food but we found it perfect after a days skiing. Great ambience, exceptional service, quality & tasty. The menu is put up on the board by the bar early afternoon & as I can’t eat lamb I was able to change my main course to Cod via the reception one evening. I don’t recognise previous reviews saying that they were unable to change anything as this wasn’t the case for us.|Having to take the ski boots into your room was a negative as it made the room smell. We were on the ski in ski out level otherwise we would have put them on the balcony

These apartments have recently been refurbished and are lovely. Staff are friendly and helpful. Ski in ski out and centre of village. Beds are comfortable and living area is spacious. You can use the Balcon Spa at top of resort for free. Next to green runs and Ski school is close. Cheapest ski hire is intersport peclet. Turn right out of apartments then left and get the lift up to a supermarket 2 mins. Cosmojet Toboggan is amazing.|Fantastic holiday

Good value for money apartments near the centre of Val Thorens, with mountain views from apartment. Easy ski-in and ski-out, not far from supermarket, etc. Parking and wellness centre/pool are not in building but a reasonable 5-10 min walk away. Apartment space is liveable but what is advertised as up to 8 people is barely enough space for 6. But that is for most apartments in this part of the world. Definitely consider again.

This was the best appartement we have in years. So big and so near de slopes and the shops. I really was glad to have such a good stay in Val thorens. Only by the ski lockers was it a little small for many gast on the same there and may be its an suggestion the place a little bank in the room before the lockers so its a little easyer to put on your boots. But we have enyoded our stay by Val Chavière and wy wil be back next year.
