With its picturesque landscapes and villages, breathtaking views and exceptional flora and fauna, the region offers a multitude of options for hikers of all levels. As lovers of nature, wide open spaces and the peace and freshness of our region, we wanted to share with you three hikes to do this summer around our Les Balcons residences.\u00a0<\/span>\r\n\r\nWhether you’re on your own, with friends or family, you’ll find a hike to suit you in this selection. <\/span>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Autour de Val CenisLe refuge de Vallonbrun : pour les amoureux de la faune & la flore<\/h2>\n\n

Are you staying in our <\/span>R\u00e9sidence Les Balcons de Val Cenis Village****<\/span><\/a>,<\/span> Les Balcons Platinium Val Cenis***** <\/span><\/a>\u00a0or <\/span>Les Balcons de Val Cenis Le Haut***<\/span><\/a>? We can only advise you to take the time to climb up to the Vallonbrun refuge: a veritable haven of peace nestled at an altitude of over 2272 meters at the gateway to the Vanoise National Park. This hike will allow you to recharge your batteries and reconnect with the exceptional local flora and fauna. <\/span><\/p>\n\n

An enchanting ascent<\/h3>\n\n

You’ll leave the Grattais parking lot in Val Cenis by car via the piste. The path leading to the Vallonbrun refuge offers a gradual ascent through a magnificent panorama (Albaron, Dent Parrach\u00e9e, Meige…). Look up, switch off the phones and you might just catch a glimpse of the majestic bearded vulture, or come across chamois, ibex… as you pass.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Vallonbrun refuge: a welcoming mountain refuge<\/span><\/h3>\n\n

Once you’ve arrived at the Vallonbrun refuge, you’ll be greeted by a warm and enthusiastic team. The refuge offers comfortable accommodation, a friendly musical atmosphere and delicious cuisine. You are welcome to stay overnight (booking essential).\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n\n

Difficulty<\/b>: medium<\/span> \n \nTime<\/b>: ~3 hours round trip with possibility of loop or overnight stay.\u00a0<\/span> \n \nFor more information on the route,<\/b> please ask at the reception desk of our establishments.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n\n

Around La Rosi\u00e8re<\/span> \n<\/span>The Petit Saint-Bernard pass, for history lovers <\/span><\/h2>\n\n

Col du Petit Saint-Bernard: a place steeped in history<\/span><\/h3>\n\n

L\u2019\u00e9t\u00e9, vous vous rendrez au col du petit Saint-Bernard depuis La Rosi\u00e8re en voiture, en v\u00e9lo ou bien avec la navette. Vous voici aux portes de l\u2019Italie dans un lieu pris\u00e9 des voyageurs qu\u2019il voit d\u00e9filer depuis l’Antiquit\u00e9. Les Romains am\u00e9nag\u00e8rent une voie au Haut Moyen \u00c2ge et Saint-Bernard \u00e9difia un hospice qui accueillait 15 000 voyageurs en 1923. Et bonne nouvelle, cet hospice toujours ouvert est devenu un point d’information touristique et un g\u00eete d’\u00e9tape.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n

A grandiose discovery trail<\/h3>\n\n

This pass, steeped in history and legend, is also the starting point for many summer excursions through alpine pastures, rocky outcrops and glaciers.\u00a0 We advise you to take the discovery trail, which will show you the many treasures of the Petit Saint-Bernard pass, including the numerous Roman remains, the alpine garden, the hospice, the customs buildings and Lac Verney…<\/span><\/p>\n\n

Around La Plagne \nThe Route des Balcons, a must-do family outing. \n<\/h2>\n\n

A hike bearing the name of our <\/span>residence <\/span><\/a>is an absolute must during your stay in Savoie. A hike we particularly appreciate for its accessibility to families and its truly incredible panoramas. It’s even accessible to 4×4 baby carriages, so it’s sure to delight young and old alike.<\/span><\/p>\n\n

Departure close to Les Balcons residence: no need for a car! <\/h2>\n\n

You can leave directly from the residence to reach the center of Belle Plagne. You’ll set off next to the playground and be led to Aime 2000 along a well-maintained path.<\/span><\/p>\n\n

Remarkable views \n<\/h2>\n\n

Enjoy remarkable views all along the way. Looking down towards the valley, you’ll marvel at Grande Parei, Pierra Menta, Aiguilles de la Nova, Mont Rosset and Mont-Blanc. Turning in the other direction, you can contemplate Mont Jovet, dos de la V\u00e9li\u00e8re, Roc du B\u00e9coin and Roc des Verdons. At Dou du Praz, a 180-degree panoramic view awaits you, with landscape interpretation tables and picnic areas. Dou du Praz is also where the famous Beaufort cheese is made (and the good news is that the dairy is open in summer for visits and sales). \n \n<\/p>\n\n

The flora is particularly magnificent and the fauna not at all wild: it’s not uncommon to come across curious and shy marmots.<\/p>\n\n
